WALKING IN SOUTH HAMS

High House is ideally situated as a base for both the serious distance walker, and those who enjoy a 20 minute stroll to a waterside pub. A number of circular walks are available, which begin with the first step outside your holiday accommodation. The entire Estuary is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty, a Local Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest, and 26 miles of estuary shoreline along over 200 acres of estuary and creeks.

SW Coastal Path

South of Kingsbridge, stretching from Brixham to Plymouth, lie the 60 miles of the South Hams'
section of Britain's longest footpath (The SW Coast Path Way - voted by The Lonely Planet's Best in
Travel as 'one of the world's best walks'). The path passes through some of the finest coastal
scenery in Europe and allows you to halt awhile; laze on a cove beach or clifftop; enjoy the sun
and the sound of the surf; watch the wildlife and examine the wildflowers.

To the north of Kingsbridge lies the 365 square miles of the wilderness that is Dartmoor National
Park. Here it is possible to spend a lifetime of leisure exploring England's largest national park.
To help visitors enjoy the best of the Moor, numerous guides are published.

Alternatively, wander the lanes and footpaths of South Hams. Passing through rolling Devon countryside with red-earth fields, glorious valleys, woods carpeted with wild flowers and an abundance of wildlife. At the end there is the village pub for a well earned drink.
