Salcombe is Devon's southernmost town. Being sheltered from the prevailing winds by the geography of the mouth of the estuary, it enjoys a very mild climate. The natural harbour offers a haven for yachtsmen, fishermen, and lovers of nautical environments. |

|
At every turn of the narrow winding streets and passageways of the town centre, the visitor is treated to breathtaking views of the estuary and bustling harbour. The shops offer a collection of unique experiences: Chocolate Factory; fishmonger; nautical designer clothes; bookshop; art galleries; nauticalia; museum; delicatessen. A wide selection of restaurants, bistros and pubs offer the opportunity to enjoy food and drink on waterside terraces whilst watching the harbour and estuary activities. |

The estuary around Salcombe offers some of the finest beaches in Devon. The golden sands of East Portlemouth and South Sands are of a type rarely found in Devon. Sharpitor with the Overbecks Museum and Garden is found on the estuary cliffs and offers six acres of rare and exotic plants and shrubs and Edwardian house full of 18th and 19th century curios. The SALCOMBE REGATTA is the highlight of the town's maritime celebrations. |
